A Young Michael.

Michael Jackson • August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009

This illustration began as a t-shirt design for Soul Slam in L.A. – which is an annual 4-hour event where, Dj Spinna plays music by Prince and Michael Jackson. With this being Soul Slam’s sixth installment, they decided to add more to the atmosphere.

I was commissioned by the Frolab to submit a t-shirt design that related to the event. I’m more of a Michael Jackson fan so this decision wasn’t too hard to make. The only restriction I had was that the illustration had to be one color.  This was becuz the t-shirts were being screened on-sight at the event. I can’t think of the last time I went to a club night and saw a silk-screen press set-up. Watching the process alone is enough to keep a person occupied.

Family Industries specialize in live screen printing and they service both corporate and private platforms. If you’re in the Los Angeles area and are looking to jazz-up your event, give them a shout and remember where you got the info.
